Personal Best

I was so pleased to be sent a copy of Personal Best's new brochure, I'm delighted to see how well it has turned out. Carl and Kristine were very well organised and had a timetable of events for me to photograph and we managed to get the whole brochure photo shoot done in 2 hours. They are a great example of how good quality photography can promote their brand and not cost a fortune.

What to wear for a corporate portrait.

Your corporate portrait needn't be a thing to dread, I always do my utmost to make people feel relaxed and look their best. But there are a few things you can do to make sure you feel confident  and look good. 

  1. Wear clothes that fit you well, a tight shirt that gapes at the buttons won't look good. 
  2. Go for a classic look, solid colours work best, patterns will look dated in no time at all.
  3. Darker coloured jackets work well.
  4. Avoid loud ties.
  5. Go easy on the jewellery.
  6. Don't be afraid to smile, even if you don't like your teeth, a smile always looks better.
  7. Do tell me if you'd like me to photoshop out any blemishes or brighten up your teeth, I'd be delighted to oblige.

Willans LLP and LINC Carol Concert

I was recently asked by Willans LLP and Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund (LINC) to provide some PR photos to help promote their Christmas carol concert by candlelight in the beautiful chapel at Cheltenham College. The target publication was Cotswold Life and the local press. I already had a great location so all I needed to do to stand a good chance of getting the pictures published was a bit of creative lighting.

The main lighting was a couple of umbrella flashes either side of the people and a small remote controlled flash hidden in the hymn book to light up the lady in the middle.

Update - here's the published picture in Cotswold Life magazine, the client is very happy.

Worlds class equine centre.

It's always nice to work with horses, so I was super chuffed to be asked to photograph the prospectus for Hartpury Equine College. 

Hartpury Equine is one of the largest equestrian colleges in the world, providing top class education from A-levels and equivalents right through to honours and Masters degrees, supporting more than 600 equine students.

The Car Boot Museum

Yesterday I photographed a first for me; a car boot containing a miniature museum. The Car Boot Museum’s specially created wooden cabinet houses a collection of everyday objects, text and images put together by artist and writer Alice Maddicott. She is joined on the tour by poet Ana Seferovic to create a collaborative poetic travelogue. 

The project has been commissioned by Somerset Art Works for this year's Arts Weeks Festival. 

Alice is touring her home county to discover the secret stories behind objects and the local landscape. 

Visitors are invited to bring along their own objects which can be donated to the Museum or be recorded and taken away again. People can write their own ideas and memories of the area and add them to the Car Boot Museum. In recent years I've enjoyed working for a growing number of clients in art world who have had great deal of exposure through my PR Photography.

BBC Countryfile Presenter Adam Henson opens Bishops Cleeve Anaerobic Digester

As a PR Photographer in Gloucestershire I get to meet lots of people and quite a few TV personalities. But it's always a special pleasure to work with BBC Countryfile's Adam Henson, I've worked with him on jobs for one of my regular clients Countrywide .

Yesterday he was opening a new anaerobic digester near Cheltenham for local company  Andigestion Ltd, I also got to meet Norman Grundon who is the chap who owns all the Grundon lorries that we see up and down the country.

The Tower of London with Princess Anne and Jane Garvey.

Recently I was summoned to The Tower of London to shoot Princess Anne. HRH The Princess Royal was the guest of honour at a reception hosted by UK hearing loss charity Hearing Link. I've photographed the Princess many times as she is the patron of loads of charities that have commissioned me to photograph events and of course it's always a great pleasure. But as a Radio 4 junkie I was most excited to meet BBC Radio Four's Woman's Hour presenter Jane Garvey, I could have listened to her voice all day and I'm sure I came across a bit starstruck. Meeting radio personalities is always a bit exciting, I think it's because their voices are always in your house, car, garage etc so they feel more familiar than TV and film actors.

Meerkats make themselves at home on my foot.

Meerkats gave a Nailsworth photographer the runaround on an unusual shoot this morning.

The endearing creatures at Hartpury College's animal collection popped up all over the place - and sometimes in front of the camera for Clint Randall of Pixel PR Photography.

He had plenty of chances to compare meerkats, as they switched places and even perched on him as he went about his work.
